Daily 5

 

Read to Self- Students will choose 2-3 books to take to the Reading Nook and will indepently read during this center time. 

 

Read to Someone- Students will partner with someone in their group and will take turns reading. 

 

Listen to Reading- At the listening center, students will have a choice to listen to various stories on cds on Monday and Tuesdays. They will then draw a picture or write a short summary on the story. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, they will listen to the weekly story from our unit. 

 

Work on Writing- The students can pick from any writing prompts provided at the Writer's Wharf. I believe that writing is an important way for an individual, especially a child, to unleash their imagination. They have the opportunity to write on whatever they would like and in any form them would like. i.e. letters, narratives, news story, comics, fantasy, etc. 

 

Word Work - On Mondays, they will review their spelling words from last week once again. On Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, they will practice their weekly spelling words for a short time in the beginning. After that, they will have free choice on word work activities that are provided for them that suits their individual and blossoming abilities. 

 

Work with Teacher- I will meet with each student individually or sometimes in their small groups daily to review/reinforce material, etc.  

 

****Work on Computer-Students will have access to our classroom computers to take A.R. tests during reading/extra time and play educational games. I am also providing an iPad that students can use during workshops as well. This iPad will also be used for whole group and small group instruction.
