Splashing into 2nd Grade!

 

Welcome everyone to the first week of school. I am so thrilled to start this school year off with such bright little love bugs that I remember from last year and excited to get to know some fresh faces as well. We have two new little ones joining us. Let's show the Frank and Hansen Family what Melba is all about! 

 

The student information sheet was sent out at Back-to-School-Night. If you were unable to attend or need another copy, I will send the information sheet home with your child on Monday. If you can get these back to me by Thursday of this week, that will be wonderful! Also, if you would like to volunteer in anyway, please fill out the volunteer form and turn it in. Thank you so much!

 

I have had a few questions concerning snack. As like last year, we will still have an afternoon snack but it is not required. If you would like to send your child to school with snack daily, please do so. You do not have to provide snack for the entire class unless you would like to donate some.(thank you) They will have snack during last recess. 

 

They are more than welcome to keep water bottles(filled only with water) in class. 

 

Curriculum

Reading: Little Red/Little Green Riding Hood

Math: Pre-test, review counting on/back, number lines

Phonics & Fluency: all letter sounds, Decodable 1, 2, and 3

Writing: Review capitals and punctuation, letter to Chrysanthemum

Spelling: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten

Vocabulary: suited, approached, wicked, craftily, scrambling,wood, replied, market, main, square,
