Splashing into 2nd Grade!

Hello, hello, hello! Hope everyone had an enoyable Labor Day weekend! We are more than ready to kick off into September! The kiddos had so much fun creating their "About Me" open thinking map, which they turned into a beautiful flower art! Pictures will be up soon! They even had a more joyous time learning and creating their "I Know the Writing Process" video. I can't wait for you all to see it! Everyone has compeleted the Fall IRI. We will be sending home scores as soon as possible.

Reading: We will begin our reading of Unit 1 on Thursday. The theme for this unit is Kindness. Our weekly stories will tie into this theme and we will participate in activities that exemplify this trait. Our introduction story, for Thursday, is Boxes for Katje. To relate to the story, unit theme, and build awareness in the country, we will compile our own box of treats(school supplies) to a school that was effected by the earthquake in Napa, CA.

Vocab: tulip, plenty, luxury

Math: As a second grade team we will be doing math rotations. After we teach a whole group lesson to our own class, then the students will rotate between Mrs. Nelson, Mrs. Christensen, and myself. The schedule I will post below is what will be covered in my group. I will try my best to put the other 2nd grade teachers plans as well.

Tuesday: Working with 2-Digit Numbers on a Number Line

Wednesday: Comparing 2-Digit Numbers on a Number Line

Thursday: Quiz over two digit numbers

Writing: The kiddos will start working on friendly letters while working through the writing process. The goal is to write a letter to a student in the school that we will be sending our package to in CA.

Spelling: Twenty, thirty, forty, fifthy, sixty, seventy, eighty, ninety, hundred
